1 c. dates, chopped
1 t. soda
1 1/2 c. boiling water
3/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt

Topping:
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1/2 c. chocolate chips
Directions:
Directions:
Combine dates, soda and water. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture along with the date mixture. Pour into greased 13"x9" pan.
Topping:
Combine sugar, nuts and chocolate chips. Sprinkle on top of batter. Bake at 350* for 1 hour
