3/4 c 180 mL Water
1 T 15 mL Milk Powder
1/4 c 60 mL Margarine
1 T 15 mL Sugar
1 tsp 5 mL Salt
1 Egg
3.5 c 875 mL Flour
1.5 tsp 7.5 mL Yeast

2 quart 2 L water
1 T 15 mL Sugar
1 tsp 5 mL Baking Soda

Directions:
Directions:
1. Make bread dough. (See other recipes for technique)
2. Allow to proof for 30 minutes.
3. Shape into 8 rings - with big holes.
4. Proof for 15 minutes.
5. Preheat oven to 375 * F. Prepare bake sheets
6. While bagels are proofing, boil water, sugar and soda. Reduce temp to provide a good simmer.
7. Gently transfer rings into boiling liquid. When rings surface, gently turn over and cook 3 minutes.
8. Remove from hot water, draining water well, and transfer to baking sheet. Sprinkle with coarse salt.
9. Bake 20 minutes
10. Remove from oven and immediately transfer to cooling racks.
