1 c. scalded milk
1/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 t. salt
1/2 c. lukewarm water
2 packages yeast
4 1/2 c. flour
2 eggs
preserves (apricot, pineapple, blueberry, raspberry, whatever you have)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine milk, sugar, shortening and salt; cool to lukewarm. Add yeast softened in lukewarm water. Stir in 2 c. flour and beaten eggs. Add enough more flour to make dough easy to handle. Knead until smooth and elastic; place in greased bowl, cover and rise to double in bulk. Punch down; roll out 1/3" thick. Cut into 2" rounds. Place on greased pan an inch apart. Let rise. Press center of each bun with finger. Place a teaspoon of preserve in each depression. Bake at 375* for 15 minutes. Brush butter lightly over top of baked rolls. Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
