3 cups water (if using slow cooker), or 6 cups water for stove top cooking
1 cube chicken bouillon
1 lb. black-eyed peas, rinsed
1 to 2 cloves garlic, minced
1 red bell pepper, diced
8 oz. cubed, cooked ham
1 onion, diced
1 to 1 1/2 tsp. cumin
2 to 4 slices bacon
1/4 to 1 tsp. pepper
salt, to taste

(Note: I used the lesser amount of ingredients, but you may add more to your liking.)
Mix the water & chicken bouillon cube together until bouillon cube is dissolved.
Add the black-eyed peas, red pepper, & garlic. Set aside.
In a skillet, fry the ham, onion, & bacon with cumin, pepper, & salt. Add to cooking pot & cook until peas are tender.
