1/2 c. shortening
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
4 T. milk
2 c. flour
1 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1 t. vanilla
jam or jelly

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and milk. Mix in dry ingredients. Drop onto greased cookie sheet. Press each slightly with bottom of glass covered with a damp cloth. In center of each cookie place 1/2 t. jam or jelly, spread about 1 t. of remaining cookie mixture over jelly. Bake at 350* for 10 - 15 minutes.
