1 stick oleo
2 c. sugar
2 c. regular flour
2 eggs
1 tab. vanilla
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 c. hot water
1 tsp baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate in double boiler first.
Cream oleo and sugar; add eggs; add flour and milk
Add 1/2 c. of the water to melted chocolate.
Put the other 1/2 c. water in a pan and bring to a boil.
To this add the baking soda and immediately add to chocolate mixture.
Pour the chocolate mixture into the batter and add the vanilla
Bake at 325 degrees in a greased loaf pan.

This cake was in the Austin Statesman Newspaper in the 1960's and was President Johnson's daughter's, Luci Johnson-Nugent's wedding cake.
