1/2 c. shortening,
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. water
1 1/2 c. regular or quick oats
1/2 c. pecans (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugars. Add egg and vanilla; mix. Add flour, baking powder, soda, salt, water and mix. Add oats; mix. Stir in pecans, if desired. Drop onto sprayed cookie sheet and bake at 350º for 12-15 minutes.

May omit pecans, may add 1/2 c. raisins, or 1/2 c. chocolate chips
