1/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 c. flour
1/4 t. soda
1/2 t. salt
1 1/4 c. rolled oats
6 oz. package of chocolate chips
1/2 c. sugar
3 T. orange juice
1 t. grated orange rind

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375*. Grease a 9" round layer pan. Mix shortening, brown sugar and egg thoroughly. Stir in milk. Sift flour, soda and salt; stir into batter. Add rolled oats and chocolate chips; blend well. Spread in pan. Bake about 30 minutes. Just before brownie is done, mix sugar and orange juice. Bring to boil. Remove from heat. Stir in orange rind. Pour hot syrup over hot baked brownies. Cool, cut in small wedges and serve with ice cream.
