2 cups warm water
½ cup sugar
1 egg
2 packages (4 teaspoons) yeast
1½ teaspoons salt
¼ cup margarine, melted
6½ cups flour

Filling:
3 cups cabbage, shredded
½ cup onion, chopped
1½ teaspoons salt
1½ pounds hamburger
½ cup water
½ teaspoon pepper

Dough:
Mix water, yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir until dissolved. Add egg and melted margarine. Stir n flour. Put in refrigerator for four hours (more or less).

Filling:
Brown ground beef and onion. Drain. Add cabbage, seasonings and water. Simmer, uncovered, 15-20 minutes. Cool completely.

Roll dough into an oblong shape and cut into 16-20 squares. Divide mixture among the squares of dough, putting it in the center of each square. Pull the four corners up and press edges together. Place on greased cookie sheets, and bake 20 minutes in a 350º oven.

My kids loved these even when they hated cabbage. They didn't even know it was in there. The cool filling is absolutely important. Otherwise, the corners don't press together well, and the rolls break open in the oven.
