1 cup butter, softened
1 3/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. vanilla
3 eggs
1 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Frosting:
1 cup butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 tsp. vanilla
4 to 5 Tbsp. milk

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar, & vanilla until light & fluffy. Add eggs & beat well. Set aside. Sift dry ingredients together. Beat into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Divide batter evenly between 3 greased (-inch round pans. Bake at 350º for 25 to 30 minutes. The center of the cake should be set. Cool 10 minutes in the pans, then remove the cake from the pans & cool completely. Frost.

Frosting: Cream the butter, then beat in the dry ingredients alternately with the wet ingredients.
