1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg yolk (save white)
1/2 t. vanilla
1 c. flour
1/4 t. salt
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Roll into balls, size of walnuts. Beat egg white slightly with a fork, dip balls into egg white. Roll in nuts. Place on greased cookie sheet 1" apart. Bake 5 minutes at 375*. Remove from oven and press thumb gently in top of each. Return to oven and bake 8 minutes. When cookies are cool, place red or green jelly in indentation.
