1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, room temperature
1/2 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp. salt
2 tsp. lemon extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream butter and shortening; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Combine flour and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
Stir in flavorings. Mix well but do not overbeat (this makes pound cakes tough).
Pour batter into a greased and floured 10" tube pan.
Bake 1 hour 5 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool cake 10-15 minutes.
