1 large baguette (about 12 oz.) sliced lengthwise
6 T. unsalted butter, softened
1 T. olive oil
1 tsp. crushed red chili flakes
1 tsp. dried oregano
4 cloves garlic, smashed into a paste
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 T. finely chopped chives
1 T. finely chopped parsley

Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees. Place baguette cut side up on a foil-lined baking sheet. Stir butter, oil, chile flakes, oregano, garlic salt, and pepper in a bowl. Spread evenly over cut sides of baguette and bake for 2 - 3 minutes under golden and slightly crispy. Sprinkle chives and parsley onto cut sides.

The recipe for herb-flecked exemplar of garlic bread comes from Manhattan's Carbone restaurant. Collected this recipe after the cookbook was finished. Was looking for more recipes to try and add to the cookbook. Read the name of the recipe and realized that Mario is a friend of David's. Thanksgiving 2014 we ate dinner at Carbone's. The garlic bread is delicious.
