3/4 c margarine
1 1/2 c sugar
3/4 c milk
3/4 c poppy seeds
2 c flour
1 1/2 t baking powder
4 egg whites
Filling:
1 1/2 c milk
4 eggs
2 T cornstarch
1/2 c sugar
1 t vanilla
whipped cream
nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Pour milk over poppy seeds and let stand at least 2 hours. Cream margarine and sugar together. Add seed mixture. Combine flour and baking powder. Add to first mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add to mixture. Bake in large tin or layers at 350 F for 20-30 minutes depending on the thickness. Filling: Mix cornstarch in a little milk, add milk, remaining sugar, beaten egg yolks. Boil until thickens. Add vanilla. Pour over cooled cake. Serve with whipped cream and nuts.
