Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups Steen's cane syrup
1/3 Tablespoon butter or margarine
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 quarts popped popcorn
salted peanuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Pop the corn according to the package directions. Combine with the peanuts if you want to add them.

In a heavy duty pan over low fire, combine the Steen's syrup and salt and boil to the hard ball stage (when a small amount dropped in a cup of water becomes brittle).

Remove from the heat and add the butter. Coat the popcorn and shape into balls about the size of a baseball. Careful when you handle the popcorn when making into the balls as the syrup will be hot. Be quick to coat and form your balls as the syrup will set up quickly as it cools. Covering your palms with butter helps to keep from burning, while you handle the syrup coated popcorn.
