1 c. butter
3/4 c. powdered sugar, sifted
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. almond extract
2-1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. marachino cherries, diced
1/4 c. nuts

CHOCOLATE DIP
1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1-1/2 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. milk
1-1/2 c. powdered sugar, sifted

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all cookie ingredients.
Roll into balls & bake on ungreased baking sheet in 350º oven for 15-18 minutes; cool thoroughly.
Melt chocolate chips with 1-1/2 tbsp. butter & milk. Cool slightly & blend in powdered sugar.
Dip tops of "Cherry-ettes" into Chocolate Dip.

These do not spread at all during baking.

Optional: Add small piece of diced cherry to top after dipping in Chocolate Dip for that Chocolate-Covered Cherry look.

Ingredients for Chocolate Dip makes a pretty good amount. I usually make half & have great plenty.
