2 lb pkg navy, or Great Northern beans
2 T soda
1 pint molasses
1 onion, chopped
2-5 lb ham, cut into pieces
1 lb bacon, diced
2 c brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Soak beans overnight. Rinse. Cook beans to boil- 2 minutes; dump in soda. Stir and then drain and rinse. Do this one more time. Put water on and boil beans. Boil until just about tender. Then drain water into a bowl and reserve water. Put beans in roaster pan. Take some reserve water and add remaining ingredients. Pour mixture over beans. (Do not cook meat prior to baking.) Bake at 300º for 3 hours.
