2 1/4 c. flour
1/3 c. sugar
1 c. dark molasses
3/4 c. hot water
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 t. baking soda
1 t. ginger
1 t. cinnamon
3/4 t. salt.

Directions:
Directions:
Measure everything into a bowl and beat until combined. Grease and flour a 9x9x2 or double the recipe and bake in a 13x9. Bake at 350º for 50 minutes or until done. Watch at the end, it gets dry if overcooked. Serve warm with whipped cream.
