1 c milk
1 stick butter
2 tsp. yeast and 1/4 cup warm water
2 eggs
7/8 c sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. mace
3 3/4 - 4 c. flour
1/2 c golden raisins to add later

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk and butter. Let cool till warm. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add all wet ingredients to machine. Run machine on "dough" program. Soak raisins in some warm water prior to end of bread machine cycle. Drain raisins and blot dry on paper towel. Remove dough from machine when done. Using floured board, carefully mix in raisins by hand. Separate dough into 2 large loaves or 4-5 small loaves. Place in greased pans and place in warm area to raise. ( a slightly warm oven with pan of boiling water placed on bottom of oven works well). Let raise in pans till doubled in size. Remove from oven. Remove pan of water from oven. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Return pans to oven and bake till golden brown. Brush with egg glaze last 5 minutes of baking. Remove from oven and place pans on rack to cool for 10 minutes. remove bread from pans and return to rack to finish cooling. When cool, wrap in saran wrap. To serve, slice and serve with butter.

This recipe was given to me by Elizabeth Cummings. It is a polish sweet bread usually served with coffee in the mornings. I adjusted the recipe for bread machine use. This bread was usually served at Easter in the Kobosinski- Cummings household.
