1/2 c butter
1 c sugar
2 egg yolks
2 egg whites
1/2 c sour milk
1 large orange
1 c raisins
2 c white flour
1.5 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda dissolved in 1 tsp hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Squeeze orange. Add juice and soda water to milk. Grate and save the zest. Sift flour then measure 2 cups. Add dry ingredients and stir. Beat egg whites to soft peaks with clean beaters and bowl.
In a mixing bowl cream butter until fluffy. Add sugar gradually beating well after each addition until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks one at a time, beat well.
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk mixture, beginning and ending with flour, each flour beaten in well before adding the next liquid.
Add raisins, zest and fold in beaten egg whites.
Bake in greased and floured layer pans at 350 F.

Decorate with Boiled Icing
