1 9 oz pkg yellow cake mix (such as Jiffy)
1 lg egg
3 tbsp vegetable or canola oil
1 c chopped pecans
10 pieces orange slice candy, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

Stir all ingredients together until well blended. Drop by tablespoon full onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Remove from oven and transfer to wire racks to cool. Makes 2 dozen cookies.

After Mom died, Dad acquired some new cooking skills. While he was always a good hand to cook things, he also began to bake as well. If he saw a recipe he liked, he got the ingredients and made it. We were often his "test" tasters and these cookies became a Thanksgiving staple. They were one of Karen's favorite and, sometimes, Dad would sneak a batch to her outside of the holiday season!
