3 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups oats
2/3 cup brown sugar
4 teaspoons ginger
3 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter
Zest of 1 lemon
2/3 cup craisins
1 cup buttermilk
5 tablespoons molasses
2 teaspoons vanilla

In a large mixing bowl stir together flour, oats, sugar, spices, baking powder, baking powder and lemon zest. Cut in butter until it forms a clumpy mixture. Stir in the craisins. Mix together buttermilk, molasses and vanilla. Add to the flour mixture. On a floured surface form two balls. Flatten each in a circle about an inch thick. Brush with beaten egg and milk. Sprinkle on oats. Cut into 6 pieces each. Bake at 400º for 20 minutes.
