2 Cups all-purpose flour
1 T Sugar
1 t Salt
2 t Baking powder
1/2 t Baking soda
1/2 C Vegetable shortening
3/4 C Buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl combine dry ingredients together with a fork. Cut in the shortening until it forms coarse crumbs. Make a well in center and add buttermilk. Quickly fold in dry ingredients forming a sticky dough.
Turn dough out on floured surface. Gently fold the dough over itself 3 or 4 times to create layers. Roll dough to approximately 1/2 inch thick and cut with a 3 inch biscuit cutter.
Transfer biscuits to a sheet pan. Bake at 400º for 15 minutes until golden brown. Brush with butter.
