Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
2. Blend in egg.
3. Sift together salt, flour, and baking powder; then add to butter/sugar mixture.
4. Blend in vanilla.
5. Roll out on surface covered with sifted confections sugar.
6. Cut with cutters and bake at 400º about 6-7 minutes. Watch them carefully. When they BEGIN to brown on the edges, they are done. They will be so much prettier if you don't let them brown on the top.
7. Let cool in pan for five minutes; then remove with spatula to cool on parchment paper.
8. Decorate with icing made with confectioners sugar, water, and food coloring (add water a little at a time so it won't get too runny.)

about 2 dozen cookies
Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
The thicker your cookies, the longer they will take to cook, but they will be soft and yummy if you don't overcook them. If you roll them too thin, they will cook too fast, and they will be crunchy.
