CAKE:
2 cups flour
1 t. baking soda
2 cups sugar
1/2 t. salt
2 sticks butter
4 T. cocoa
1 cup water
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla



ICING:
1 stick butter
3 T. cocoa
6 T. buttermilk
1 lb. confectioner's sugar
1 t. vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans

CAKE
1. Into large bowl, sift flour, baking soda, sugar and salt.
2. In saucepan, melt together the butter, cocoa, and water.
3. Bring to rapid boil, then add to dry ingredients and beat well by hand.
4. Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla and combine well.
5. Pour into 12" x 18" sheet pan and bake at 350º until done (about 20 minutes.)

ICING
1. Melt butter cocoa and buttermilk in pan.
2. Add confectioner's sugar and mix well.
3. Add vanilla and nuts and spread on cake.
