2 lbs. stewing beef, cut into cubes [ yes, Annette, you may use venison]
2 c. raw potatoes,also cut into cubes.
2 c. EACH carrots & celery, chopped
1 onion, diced
2 c. beef broth[I usually don't have, so use water & 2 beef bouillon cubes]
salt/ pepper to taste
Dumplings
11/2 c. flour
21/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 c. milk
1 T. oil

Directions:
Directions:
Put beef in big pot with broth & onion. Simmer 'til tender. Add remaining vegetables. Cook 'til almost done. Add a little flour or corn starch to thicken liquid. Prepare dumplings:
Mix dry ingredients, then combine all. Drop by spoonsful over stew. Simmer for approx. 15 min. COVERED. Do not lift lid!
