12 large cabbage leaves
1 large onion, diced
2 Tbsp. butter
16 oz. tomato sauce
2 tsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 cup cooked rice
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1 egg
1 slice white (or any) bread, crumbled
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/8 tsp. garlic powder

Directions:
Directions:
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add cabbage leaves & blanch. Remove the leaves from the water & let them set to cool. Meanwhile, cook onion in melted butter in a skillet. Add the tomato sauce, brown sugar, salt & pepper. Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, crumbled bread, egg, Worcestershire sauce, basil, & garlic powder. Mix well. Divide the meat mixture between the 12 blanched cabbage leaves. Roll the leaves burrito-style. Place seam-side down in the skillet of sauce & simmer, covered, 45-60 minutes.
(or spread some of the sauce in the bottom of a 13"x9"x2" glass pan, cover tightly with foil, & bake 1 hour at 350º.
