1 package yeast (traditional yeast, not fast rising)
1 tsp. sugar
½ c. warm water

1 c. water
1 c. milk
5 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
6 c. flour
4 Tbsp. shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Add yeast, sugar and water to a bowl. Let stand for 10 minutes.

Combine sugar, salt, milk, water and dissolve well. Add yeast mixture.

Add ½ the flour to the liquid mixture, stir until smooth. Add melted shortening and remaining flour. Knead until elastic.

Rise 90 minutes, punch down and rise 45 minutes longer. Shape dough into buns on cookie sheet and rise again 45 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350°. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Brush with melted butter after cooled a few minutes.
