The ratio for this dish is:

4 lbs. potatoes
2 lbs. carrots
1 lb. onions

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and slice carrots and place in a large pot. Dice onion and place in pot on top of carrots. Boil in pot until tender. Peel potatoes and boil until tender.
When ready to combine, place carrots and onions in a very large bowl.
Mash them with a potato masher while adding potatoes and some butter or margarine.
Taste if you don’t know and then stop adding potatoes when you feel it is right. (depends on the sweetness of the carrots and onions).
