1 cup corn meal
1/2 cup flour
2 tsp salt
1 quart water

my mom always put a couple of tablespooons of cold water in the flour and cornmeal before adding it to the boiled water. she said it helped make the mixture mix better in the watter and guarded against lumps.
pour cooked corn meal into 81/2x 41/2 x2 in loaf dish. chill untill set, about 1 hour. cut into 1/2 inch slices.
fry mush slices 4 to 5 minutes on each side until slightly browned. serve hot with butter and syrup.
