1 Tbsp. butter
1 medium onion, chopped
1 meaty ham bone , or cubed ham
1 1/2 cup washed, quick-cooking dried split peas
1/2 tsp. celery salt
salt, to taste
1/2 tsp. pepper
6 cups cold water
2 cups hot milk

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onion in melted butter until tender. Add bone, split peas, celery salt, salt, pepper, & water. Cover & simmer until peas mash, about 1 hour. Remove bone; cut meat off of the bone. Return meat to soup. Add milk & heat.
