4 c. soft white bread cubes
16 slices bacon
4 T. butter
1/2 tsp. seasoning salt
2 c. milk
1 c. plain flavored bread crumbs
16 eggs
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 lb. sliced swiss cheese
1/2 lb. shredded swiss cheese
4 t. butter (once again)

Directions:

Soak bread cubes in milk and set aside. Cut up raw bacon into small pieces and fry until crisp. Drain and set aside. Scramble eggs lightly in 4 T. butter, keeping them moist. Add the bread cube mixture to the eggs and scramble until all ingredients are combined. Season egg mixture with salt and pepper. Place in greased 9x13 pan. Sprinkle seasoning salt over egg mixture and top with shredded cheese and then sliced cheese. Place bread crumbs and additional 4 T. butter in a fry pan and saute until brown. Sprinkle bread crumbs and crumbled bacon over swiss cheese.

Bake in preheated 350 oven, 30 minutes

The mixture of sliced and shredded swiss cheese improves the texture, making the casserole creamy and easy to cut into portions. Make the day before and keep refridgerated overnight. As gifts are being unwrapped it cooks quickly in the oven!
