2 c. sugar
2 c. cold water
1/2 c. shortening
1 lb. raisins
1 lb. dates
1 c. whole pecans
1 lb. candied cherries (red & green)
1 lb. candied pineapple chunks
5 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Boil sugar, water and shortening for 5 minutes and cool. Add cinnamon, cloves, salt, flour and baking soda to mixture. Combine into mixture dates, pecan, raisins, candied cherries and pineapple chunks. Mix well. Makes 8 small pans or 2 loaf pans. Bake at 350º for 1 hour. Test with toothpick.
