"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 1/4 C. Flour
2 tsp. cream of tarter
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 C. Butter
3 eggs
1 C. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
This is the icing I use:
1 C. Butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
4 C. powdered sugar
2-4 Tbsp. milk (depending on what consistency you want)

Directions:
Directions:
Stir or sift flour, cream of tarter, baking soda, and salt into a bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender of two knives as for pie crust; set aside. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until light and fluffy. To the eggs add the sugar and vanilla. Beat well. Add egg-sugar mixture to flour-butter mixture. Blend well. On floured surface roll out dough (on thicker side; better thick than too thin). Cut out shapes and place on cookie sheet (it says to grease your cookie sheet but I never do). Bake at 350 degrees until slightly browned on the edges (DO NOT OVER BAKE), 10-12 minutes. Remove from the pans immediately. Ice when cool. Can add sugar sprinkles before baking if desired and omit icing.
