1 cup buttermilk
2 cups flour
1/2 cup ground Smithfield Country Ham
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon soda
4 tablespoons shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, salt & baking powder. Work in shortening. Stir in ham. Stir soda into buttermilk, add to flour and mix lightly. Pat or roll out and bake in 425 dgree oven.

Our family generally makes ham biscuits by placing a slice of ham on a plain buttermilk biscuit. This is a different type of ham biscuit but very good. Had them at the Hotel Roanoke many times.
