1 1/2 C sugar
1 C Spry (shortening)
6 egg whites
3 C sifted flour
3 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
1 C maraschino cherry juice
1 C chopped maraschino cherries
1 C chopped pecans
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Cream together sugar, spry, and egg whites. Add mixed and sifted dry ingredients alternately with cherries and juice. Add pecans and vanilla, mix well. This makes 3 large layers. Bake at 375º until done.
Ice with 7-minute icing to which a few well-drained cherries have been added.
