1 to 1 1/2 c almonds
1 lb butter
2 T white Karo syrup
2 c sugar
6 T water
1 1/3 block of 10 oz milk chocolate
1 lb walnuts, finely chopped

Directions:
Directions:
1. Blanch almonds. Skin, split, and dry in 300ºF oven for 30 minutes, just until they snap, but not so long they are dark brown or starting to burn.

2. Melt butter a little, add sugar, Karo, and they water. Cook on med heat; stir often but do not stir down sides.

3. Cooking about one hour until candy thermometer is ~270º (hard ball).

4. Add almonds. Stir and cook to 290º (soft crack). Pour onto a large cookie sheet and let cool.

5. Either spread the chocolate over and cover with nuts, let cool, turnover and repeat. Break candy

- or -

5. Break into pieces and spread or dip into chocolate. Put nuts on both sides. Put on trays and cool. This takes more chocolate and nuts (and helps to have 2 people).
