1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
2 -3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cinnamon.

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º.

Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Blend well and shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll balls in mixture of 2 tbsp. sugar and 2 tbsp. cinnamon. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, with each ball about 2 inches apart from one another.

Bake 8-10 minutes. These cookies will puff up initially and then will flatten out.

Makes 6 dozen snickerdoodles.
