6 slices bread
1 lb. pork sausage
6 eggs, beaten
2 c. half & half
butter or margarine
1 1/2 c. (6 oz) shredded longhorn cheese

Directions:
Directions:
1. Remove crusts from bread, spread bread slices with butter. Place butter--side down in a greased 13"x9"x2" baking dish and set aside.
2. Cook sausage until browned, stirring to crumble, drain well.
3. Spoon over bread slices, sprinkle with cheese.
4. Combine eggs, half & half, and salt. Mix well and pour over cheese.
5. Cover casserole and chill overnight.
6. Remove from refrigerator 15 minutes before baking.
7. Bake casserole uncovered at 350º for 45 minutes or until set.

This was Michael's favorite breakfast. We took it to church breakfasts many times. I use Jones Breakfast sausage from the freezer section and a hearty wheat or white bread.
