1/2 c margarine
1 1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
2 oz red food coloring
1 tsp vanilla
1 c buttermilk
2 t cocoa
1 tsp salt
1 T vinegar
1 tsp baking soda
2 1/4 c cake flour

Directions:
Directions:
cream shortening, sugar and eggs slightly beaten. Make paste of food color and cocoa and add to mixture. Add buttermilk with flour and salt. Beat well. Add vanilla, then soda and vinegar. After soda and vinegar, blend, do not beat. Bake in 2 9 inch layer plans at 350 for 30 minutes. Cool and frost.
