9 x 9 inch aluminum pan with oleo or butter
Apple slices (Northern Spy) are good
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup cinnamon
1/4 cup nutmeg
Dabs of butter
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Crust: 1 cup flour
1/2 cup Crisco
4 tablespoons water
Dash of salt
Pastry cloth
Rolling pin
Wax paper
1 tablespoon milk

Directions:
Grease 9 x 9 inch aluminum pan with oleo or butter. Peel and slice apples. Alternate slices in layers with 1 tablespoon sugar between each. On top, sprinkle 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon and nutmeg with dabs of butter. (If apple slices turn brown when slicing, add 1 tablespoon lemon juice.

Crust: Blend 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup Crisco, 4 tablespoons water, dash of salt until mealy. Squeeze dough into ball in wax paper. Sprinkle flour on pastry cloth and rolling pin. Put dough in middle of cloth and roll out. Roll onto pin to flip onto pan. Flute and slit crust a bit to release steam. Put a dab of 1 tablespoon milk on crust. Bake at 400º for 10 minutes, then 350º for 30 minutes.
