2 c. water
2 tbsp. oil
1/2 c. vinegar
3/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
pinch of salt

Dumplings:
1 c. milk
1/2 c. oil
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
In a pan, mix water and cornstarch well. Add sugar, vinegar and salt; bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
In a bowl, mix dumplings ingredients, as for drop biscuits. Drop into boiling syrup 1 tsp. at a time. Cook until done.
To test for doneness, stick with toothpick to see if the center is doughy.
