Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 lb. lean ground beef
½ cup onion, chopped
1 cup celery, diced
3 tablespoons green pepper, chopped
2 tablespoons flour
1 ½ cups hot water
1 beef bouillon cube
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon onion salt
½ teaspoon garlic salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cook ground beef in a skillet until lightly brown, using fat if necessary. Add onion, celery and green pepper; cook until onion is soft and transparent. Blend in flour, then add hot water in which bouillon cube has been dissolved. Cook and stir until slightly thickened. Add remaining ingredients. Cover skillet; simmer over low heat for 30 minutes or until flavors are blended. Adjust seasoning. Serve on fluffy rice, fried noodles, mashed potatoes or baked potatoes. NOTE: If desired, 1 ½ cups coarsely grated carrot may be added to mixture along with seasonings.

BRENDA’S NOTES: For the spices, I do ½ teaspoon each of salt, pepper, onion salt and garlic salt. I also use 2 heaping tablespoons of flour, and a couple extra bouillon cubes. I always add the grated carrot, using the large grater from Paul’s grandmother.

I have used this recipe for many meals I have taken into someone when they have been sick. It is a good "comfort food."
