2 cups raw peanuts
3 cups sugar
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
3 drops red food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all together. Cook high till boiling and then medium or low until forms soft ball when dropped in cold water (should string)/
Remove from heat and beat until looses gloss. Pour into buttered pan. Cool and bread into pieces.

If you were of my generation and lived in Louisiana, you should never the Tom's Peanut Patty (just 5 cents a patty). I friend in I worked with in Shreveport gave me this recipe and it is so close to Tom's. I was at my 45th class reunion and someone I went to school with made a comment about wishing she could find them (they now live "up North"). She was so happy when I told her about this recipe and sent it to her.
