1 c. softened butter or margarine ( I use butter)
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c. sugar for rolling

Directions:
Directions:
Beat shortening and sugar until creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Mix flour, cinnamon, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Stir into eggs and vanilla. Blend well. Chill dough. Preheat oven to 400º. Shape dough into balls about 1" in diameter. Roll balls in sugar and place about 2"apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. I line the cookie sheets with parchment paper. Bake 8-10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet while still warm.
