2 qt packages of fresh or fresh-frozen conk peas
Bacon or ham bits to season
8-10 pods of fresh okra
Salt and pepper
Vinegar-pepper hot sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Cover peas with cold water in large saucepan. Add cut up pieces of ham or raw bacon for seasoning. Add a little bacon grease, if desired. Add about 1 tsp of salt.
Bring to a boil, cover and lower heat Allow to simmer for about an hour. Taste for seasoning, add whatever is needed to make it taste right (salt, sugar, or pepper). Place okra pods on top of peas and cook for another 30 minutes.
Serve and have vinegar-pepper hot sauce available.
