4 quarts thinly sliced pickling cucumbers (can use larger ones)
1 sweet red pepper, sliced into bits
1 gren pepper, sliced into bits
3 cloves garlic, sliced, not crushed
6 medium onions, sliced
1/3 cup salt
2 trays of ice cubes
5 cups sugar
3 cups white vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric
1 1/2 teaspoons celery seed
2 tablespoons mustard seed

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cucumbers, red and green peppers, garlic, and onions. Add salt.

Add 2 trays of ice cubes. Let stand 3 hours until ice is melted.

In a large pot combine sugar, white vinegar, turmeric, celery seed, and mustard seed.

Drain cucumber mixture by squeezing with hands gently to get rid of excess water and add to large pot with seasonings.

Bring to a boil and put into hot jars and seal.

If jars do not seal properly, put them into a cold water bath and watch carefully. As soon as water boils, remove jars immediately.

Cool jars and store.
