2 c. flour
1/2 c. margarine
1/2 c. crisco
1 c. water
1/4 c. cocoa
1 t. soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs beaten
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Put flour and sugar into a mixing bowl. (Mix with spoon) Put the margarine, shortening, water and cocoa in a pan put on stove and bring to a boil. While hot pour over the flour and sugar, mix well. Add buttermilk, soda and 2 eggs to mixture. Mix well. Add vanilla. Mix well.
Grease a 12x9x2 inch pan. Put some dry flour in the pan and shake it around until bottom and sides are covered lightly. Pour cake mixture into the greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes, or until it tests done. Let cool about 15 minutes then frost with chocolate frosting.

1/2 c. margarine
3T. cocoa
1/3 c. milk
1 pound powered sugar
1 t. vanilla
Combine margarine, milk, cocoa, add powered sugar. Mix well. Spread on cake.

Grandma gave this recipe at my "Recipe Wedding Shower". I love how the instructions are so specific... she knew my cooking abilities well! Many memories were made sitting around her kitchen table eating chocolate cake.
