1 cup slivered almonds
1/2 cup white corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1/8 tsp salt
2 Tblsp. butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
2 quart glass measure

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the almonds, white syrup, sugar and salt in the 2 quart glass container. Microwave 100 % about 4 minutes. Beat then cook another 4 minutes. Add 2 Tblsp. butter. Stir and blend. Microwave another 2-3 minutes or until candy begins to look golden brown. Mix together 1 tsp. vanilla. 1 tsp. soda. Stir quickly into candy. Pour onto a sprayed foil-covered cookie sheet. As soon as it begins to set, stretch out with 2 buttered forks. Stretch until it appears to be almonds held together with spun sugar.

I do remember Beth saying you need a good heavy pot when making candy. I use one that was used as a pressure cooker pot. Probably important to read up on the kinds that are good for candy making. Good luck!!
