1/2 c sugar
5 Tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c milk, scalded
3 eggs, separated
2 Tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c chopped pecans
6 Tbsp. sugar
1 baked 9 inch pie shell

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, flour and salt in saucepan. Add milk and blend until smooth. Cook over low heat until thick, stirring constantly. Add a little hot mixture into slightly beaten egg yolks. Stir into remaining hot mixture and cook until thickened. Remove from heat and add butter, vanilla and pecans; cool. Beat egg whites until light and gradually beat in 6 Tbsp. sugar; beating until stiff. Fold approx. 1/3 of the meringue unto the cooled filling. Pour filling into pie shell. Spread meringue over top of pie. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes.
